ENTRENCHED Assault Class Guide
Automatic fire and frags for the players who break stalemates — not hold them.
The Assault class is ENTRENCHED’s close-range breacher. You spawn with a fast-firing automatic primary, a fragmentation grenade, and enough health to survive the first seconds of a trench fight. Assault players win by closing distance, clearing bunkers, and forcing enemies off Domination hills before Rifleman bolts can reset the angle. Outside ~100 studs you are vulnerable; inside a trench bend you are among the scariest kits in the game.
Assault sits between Skirmisher and Support in philosophy: more durability and raw DPS than Skirmisher, less range control than Support. You carry frags instead of smoke, which signals your job — initiate, not flank silently. A skilled Assault can beat most classes in a room; the same player loses to Recon on open Conquest fields if they ego-run across berms.
Loadout breakdown
Automatic primary: Higher damage than Support’s gun in close quarters but worse accuracy and more frequent reloads. Tap fire at medium range; full auto only when you have corner advantage.
Fragmentation grenade: Cook clears for Frontline bunkers and Domination stacks. Tell Medic teammates to wait half a second before following your throw.
Melee backup: Finish wounded targets during reload windows.
Core tactics
Entry timing: Let Officer or Recon spot first when possible. Sprint into angles enemies are already aiming away from — not the exact window Recon is watching.
Run-and-gun: Strafe while firing in trenches; many Assault deaths come from standing still in doorways. Mobile players on console can abuse this; PC players should still crouch in low ceilings.
Grenade discipline: One frag, one push. Do not throw into empty rooms while your team holds spawn.
Matchups
| Opponent | Plan |
|---|---|
| Rifleman / Support | Close gap with smoke from Skirmisher or corners; never wide peek |
| Recon | Smoke, flank, or change lane — do not challenge 150+ studs |
| Flamer | Whoever owns the choke wins; pre-nade before entering |
| Medic | Rush during reload; SMG beats semi-auto up close |
| Engineer | Push HMG before setup completes; else flank with squad |
Game mode priorities
Frontline attack: Primary class. Lead sector captures after artillery or grenade prep. Frontline defense: Situational — hold trench mouths against enemy Assault mirrors. Conquest: Take tight flags (villages, trenches); avoid open fields. Domination: Stack on hill with Medics; you are the reason the point flips.
Rankings: Class Tier List and Mode Tier Breakdown. New players should learn Rifleman before Assault — see Beginner Picks.
Squad synergy
Pair with Medics one step back, Engineers setting smoke gaps on defense turns, and Officers calling push timing. Read All Classes Overview when your team already has three Assault and zero healers — swap roles.
Use Class Picker if you die repeatedly to Recon on a map — you might be on the wrong class for that lobby’s geometry. Controls Cheatsheet lists grenade and movement binds.
Assault is not an excuse to ignore tickets. Dying on a useless 1v3 rush feeds enemy streaks. Breach when teammates can trade, capture when the flag is clear, and rotate when Recon owns your lane. That discipline separates pub stompers from feed-heavy SMG players.
Warm-up drill
In a private or low-pop server, practice grenade arcs into trench corners without live enemies. Learn the automatic weapon’s first-shot recoil pattern at five and ten meters. Then queue Domination and only push when a Medic is within revive range — habit builds faster than reading guides alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for trench warfare and class play.
Assault vs Skirmisher — which clears trenches faster?
Assault with frags and automatic fire; Skirmisher uses smoke and mobility to set up teammates rather than solo clear.
Why do I die instantly on some maps?
Open sightlines favor Recon and Rifleman. Assault needs trench or urban sectors — check mode tiers before locking in.
Is Assault good for beginners after Rifleman?
Yes, once you understand range limits. It teaches push timing and grenade lines without Engineer build complexity.
How many Assault per team is ideal?
Two to three on attack-heavy modes. More without Medics loses sustained fights.
