Flamer Guide

The Flamer is ENTRENCHED’s short-range area-denial specialist. You spawn with a flamethrower, a handgun, and a melee option, built to erase stacked enemies inside trenches, tunnels, and Domination pits. Community references often place Flamer near 110 HP, giving you enough bulk to finish a spray once you close distance — but almost none of that HP matters if a Recon sees you crossing open ground. Flamer is map-dependent S-tier or near-useless, and knowing which match you are in is the entire skill ceiling.

This guide covers approach paths, fuel discipline, synergies with Skirmisher smoke, and when to swap to Assault or Rifleman. Cross-read All Classes Overview, Build Fortifications, and Mode Tier Breakdown.

Loadout fundamentals

Flamethrower: Splash fire that panics groups and clears corners better than bolt rifles. Short bursts conserve fuel and still ignite targets; holding the stream dry leaves you helpless mid-trench. Fire around berms rather than exposing your full body. Flame does not win 80-stud duels — if the fight is that far, you already lost the class choice.

Handgun: Transition weapon when fuel runs dry or when a single distant target peeks. Finish low-HP enemies retreating from the burn.

Melee: Only inside already-cleared rooms. Never sprint-melee across no-man’s land.

How to approach without dying

Flamers need escorts. Ideal stack: Skirmisher smoke → Assault frags → Flamer entry → Medic revive safety. Solo Flamer runs into Engineer HMGs and Recon lanes die for free. On Frontline attack, wait for the smoke curtain or Officer call, then take the trench mouth your team already softens. On Domination, enter from a covered stair or dug approach, not the glowing center.

Conquest Flamers succeed only on flags with indoor or trench geometry. On open field points, swap classes. Weather fog can help you close — see Weather tactics — but fog also hides the Recon who is already aiming at your silhouette.

Matchups

VersusPlan
Stacked infantry in trenchPrimary win condition — burn the room
Recon / Rifleman at rangeDo not peek; relocate through covered routes
Engineer nestNeed smoke + frags first; flame alone loses to HMG
SupportClose from flanks; mid-range LMG shreds you
MedicBurn revive clusters; deny F-key saves
Other FlamerWin with angle and fuel remaining

Mode value

Frontline attack: High when sectors are trench-dense. Frontline defense: Situational — hold tunnel mouths, not open berms. Conquest: Situational per flag. Domination: Often excellent when the hill sits in a pit or bunker cluster.

If your team already has two Flamers, add a Medic or Support instead. Flame stacks without sustain still bleed tickets.

Practice routine

Play Domination only until you can enter the hill twice per round without dying to open-field snipers. Track deaths before flame contact — those are class-choice errors, not aim errors. Study trench geometry in How to Dig Trenches so you understand which digs create Flamer traps versus Flamer highways.

Flamer mastery is restraint. The players who win with fire are the ones who refuse to equip it on the wrong map.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for trench warfare and class play.

Should beginners main Flamer in ENTRENCHED?

Usually no. Learn Rifleman and Assault first. Flamer punishes poor map choice harder than any other class.

How do I counter a Flamer?

Keep distance with Rifleman or Recon, pre-aim trench mouths, and use grenades into bunkers before they exit.

Does smoke help Flamer pushes?

Yes. Skirmisher smoke is the best escort tool for closing distance into chokes safely.

When should I swap off Flamer?

On open, clear-weather maps with long sightlines and few trenches — swap to Rifleman, Support, or Recon.
