Skirmisher Guide

The Skirmisher is ENTRENCHED’s speed-and-smoke specialist: a light infantry kit built to slip past stacked lanes, blind sniper sightlines, and create temporary cover for Assault, Flamer, and Medic teammates. You trade raw durability for mobility. Community loadout notes usually place Skirmisher around 95 HP with a movement edge over Rifleman — enough to win flanks, not enough to win long head-on fights against Support LMGs or Recon scoped rifles. If you main this class, your job is pathfinding, not scoreboard farming.

Skirmisher ships with a bolt-action carbine, a smoke grenade, and a random melee. The carbine chambers faster than many full-length rifles but asks for lead and discipline at mid range. Smoke is your real power spike: throw it to cross open ground, mask a Domination hill entry, or hide an Engineer tunnel exit before the whistle. Pair this page with All Classes Overview, Assault Guide, and Class Picker when deciding whether your lobby needs smoke more than another frag Assault.

Loadout fundamentals

Carbine: Treat it like a mid-range scalpel. Brace behind berms, fire, then relocate — Skirmishers who stand still after a miss become free Recon kills. Headshots delete Medics and soft targets; tankier Supports and Flamers may survive one headshot, so plan a follow-up or teammate trade. Faction carbine variants differ slightly in feel (Russian and Bulgarian options often praised in community guides for accuracy and lead), but the role stays identical across Entente and Central Powers.

Smoke grenade: Two primary uses — push through the cloud when enemies lose sight, or push around the cloud while they stare into the fog. Never dump smoke on your own Recon’s only lane without calling it. Smoke also protects Medic revive windows and Flamer approaches into chokes.

Melee: Emergency finishes only. Your HP pool does not forgive greedy bayonet charges into HMG nests.

Positioning and flanking

On Frontline attack turns, Skirmishers live one trench sideways from the main breach. Let Assault and Officer pressure the obvious lane while you smoke a secondary berm and roll into the sector box. On defense, use smoke to break Assault sight before they frag your Medic stack.

Conquest rewards Skirmishers who rotate early. Smoke the open between flags so the capture team arrives with tickets intact. Avoid hard-sticking one sniper berm — that is Recon work.

Domination is where smoke shines hardest. Pop smoke on the hill rim, enter from an unexpected stair or trench mouth, then leave before Support sprays the cloud. Repeat. Dying for one kill on the hill is a ticket loss; dying after two teammates secure the zone is a win.

Matchups

VersusPlan
ReconNever silhouette on ridges; smoke crossings; break LOS after first exchange
SupportStay outside LMG spray cones; win with distance and reposition
AssaultKeep mid range; do not duel SMG in tight rooms
FlamerStay outside flame reach; finish with carbine from corners
MedicHeadshot priority; deny revive windows after downs
EngineerFlank before HMG is fully nested; smoke tunnel exits

Mode checklist

  1. Count Assaulters — if zero, consider swapping to Assault yourself.
  2. Save smoke for the moment your squad actually crosses, not for vanity.
  3. Call smoke drops in chat so Medics and Flamers sync.
  4. Swap to Rifleman on ultra-open clear-weather maps if flanks vanish.
  5. Read Weather tactics when fog already covers the map — smoke value shifts.

Practice routine

Queue Domination and track successful smoke entries per round. Aim for one safe flank that creates a capture window, not a highlight reel. Alternate with How to Dig Trenches sessions so you understand the geometry you are flanking through. Review deaths: most Skirmisher losses are over-peeking after a smoke fades, not carbine stats.

Cross-read Tier List, Beginner Picks, Nations, and Guides Hub. There are still no promo codes that unlock Skirmisher perks — see Active Codes Status. Optional cosmetics and nation unlocks live under Game Passes.

Skirmisher mains win quietly: one smoke that lets a Flamer clear a bunker is worth more than five uncoordinated carbine chips from the wrong angle.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for trench warfare and class play.

Is Skirmisher good for beginners in ENTRENCHED?

It is playable early, but Rifleman is safer. Skirmisher rewards map knowledge and smoke timing more than raw aim.

What does Skirmisher smoke do?

Smoke blocks vision so your team can cross open ground, enter Domination hills, or hide flanks. It does not deal damage.

Why do I die so fast as Skirmisher?

Lower HP and aggressive flanking create short TTK. Play mid range, relocate after shots, and avoid Assaulters in tight rooms.

Which modes favor Skirmisher?

Domination and Frontline attack turns benefit most from smoke entries. Conquest rewards early rotations between flags.
